Photography

For my magazine I will need a variety of shots. I plan on taking some of the pictures mention in my plan below and any others that I feel will suit the location at the time. Whilst I do believe that planning is vital in a photoshoot I also agree that some of the best photos are natural shots that are take spontaneously.  
 

Shot	Location	Props / clothes.
Several Close up from shoulders up. Variety of poses and angles. Experiment with lights and location.	Old Portsmouth – Outside, archways, brick walls, beach.	Coat- Thick Jumper, Jumper with autumnal shades and accessories – chunky statement necklace. Make Up : simple but contoured base, nude lips and simple eyes.
Full body Shots Variety of angles, Some face on some from behind/side etc. Some with and without different items of clothing e.g. the coat.	Old Portsmouth: simple beach backgrounds. Against a simple backdrop.	Coat – clothes- boyfriend or skinny jeans and male inspired brogue type shoes. Same jumper and necklace from the close up shots with disco pants and boots.
Outfit shots	Simple, rustic backdrop, / wall or fencing?	Coat, Scarf, Hanger, T shirt, jumper, shoes.
Product Shots	Autumnal themed backdrop, garden, leaves, grass, wood/bark.	Make Up: lipsticks, powders, foundations, nail polishes.

 
 
 

Below is a mix of 20 photographs taken to use in my magazine. Some are to be used as cover images and some are taken to use in the  magazine. As an a experiment some photos were taken in black and white.

I found the photoshoot a difficult task to undertake, we were very pressured for time and lacked creative spaces to photograph the model in. Also due to our lack of artificial lighting we had to use natural light and due to it being a gloomy day it was hard to capture nicely balanced shots. As I used my best friend to model it was quite an easy and comfortable environment to work in meaning that we could work quite quickly and try a lot of different poses. I tried to take inspiration from other magazines that I had seen whilst still keeping them unique and I was very critical of my own work so we struggle finding backdrops and sets that were suitable.  

Overall I am happy with the photos I have taken. I feel that I have a good variety of shots and some that are well suited to being cover photos. I believe that they are of good quality and look authentic. I do think however that my pictures lack vibrancy of colour and I feel that I should have been more adventurous with the colours that I had my model wearing therefore I will have to change that during the editing process. I also feel that I could have tried different lighting and other angles to create more variety in my selection but collectively I am pleased. I also wish that I had colour copies of the black and white photos. (The two photos I am going to use as cover photos have been captioned)
